Greetings from Pleasanton just east of San Francisco! I'm here ready to participate in the ConvenZioNE that begins tomorrow. It is so wierd to be here without the family~A real getaway--even though getting here I was quite the chicken. You know you are getting old when you worry about leaving your nest and forget the thrill of adventure. It's starting to come back to me--youth! when I was footloose and fancy free and could do what I pleased!
My first good sign that all was well and so stop worrying about the flight, the kiddo etc was the fact that Southwest Airlines has changed their look since I last flew with them--since the infamous flight to Texas which started my fear of flying in the first place.
I took this as a sign of a good omen. There were two big ones at the front of the plane inside the cabin--and the flight was only 52 minutes and smooth as a baby's bum.
;-)
Once I landed, I had to go rent a car--I've never done that before. I fretted over driving a new-to-me vehicle in a new-to me city. I had to keep reminding myself that I've driven all over Los Angeles--what could be harder than that? Another good omen--they ran out of my grade car and had to upgrade me to an SUV. Um..thank you very much. I like being high up on the highway with a powerful engine (My husband has a PRIUS and I can't stand the way it feels).
Nice comfy room at the hotel; but I was starving by the time I got to it. Took me quite a while to get the car and drive to the hotel--missed lunch. Got my map and decided to head for Main Street, Pleasanton where most of the festivities will be to familiarize myself with the town and seek food there.
One glass of Pinot Grigio, a plate of pumpkin raviolis, a nice view and oh boy, was I a happy camper.
I strolled up Main Street and saw where we all will be having our group dinner in a day or two:
Looking good! Can't wait to have a marguarita there! Took a few peeks in some shops till it was getting late and decided to go back to the hotel for a latte and a cookie by poolside. No need for dinner I was stuffed!
Now my biggest problem is what to order for room service for breakfast tomorrow and what time should I get up?????
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, decisions, decisions....
C U tomorrow.

Hi Theresa have a great time!!!
